Where The Giants Roam, Projection on Sheer, Curtiss Randolph, 2017

Where The Giants Roam

In response to a musical album made by Thudercat, Where The Giants Roam explores the relationship between giants and humans. In many fantasy stories giants come in and take over the narrative in a dominant way. We read about these characters, visualize what they may look like, but it is not often we are able to experience the feeling of standing underneath them. Where The Giants Roam is an immersive installation that shares the moment when humans and a giant mythological figure meet for the first time. Combining image with sound, this projection is accompanied with an audible dialogue track that represents the figures thoughts from the encounter with the viewer. Similar to a set, the audience had the opportunity to move around the hanging piece while listening to the story being told.
